Go Cart Derby Racing

It was so much fun at the go-kart derby we had the best time going downhill. We had a few crashes and tears. I had the biggest crashes and I had the second fastest go-kart the first time I went down the beginner level first then Charlie B went after me we made it down without crashing. We had to drag the go-karts back up the hill. I was pumped, I then had another go followed by Liana. Two times in a row Zahnae crashed then everyone else had a go. We moved on to the expert level, Charlie.B went first, he made it down without crashing then I had a go I was shoved over the edge by Miss Dods. I speed down the hill I hit the bumpy part, bounced left then right then hit the sheep rut and jumped up and came down on my front wheels and flipped. It hurt! My next run was much the same I went flying down the hill, hit the bumps and spun out again, it sucked but it was fun, then some other people went down the hill I was forbidden to go down on my go-kart again so I took someone else's when they didn’t want to go. I helped some other people drag there go karts up the hill again, helped a Room one go down the hill on their box derby. It was fun and I can't wait till Gisborne intermediate comes so we can do it all over again.

  1. Dear Charlie,
You have created a great set of slides to share the go carts from your class. There was a lot of creativity in making the carts. Did anyone get hurt?
I know you have time to modify the carts before Gis Int LH1 come to challenge you. Did you change anything on yours? Who do you think will win?
Looking forward to a blog post about Gis Int's visit

  2. Kia ora Charlie, I really like how your enthusiasm for the Go Kart Derby comes through. Even though it hurt you kept doing it! Your comments on the slides really help to explain the images. Could you tell me why the karts are called beasts?

  3. Hi Charlie,
I like how you laid the pictures out, and how you put in the different types of information about each Kart. I would really love to ride one of those in future. Which Kart did you enjoy the most? Great job, keep it up!

I have greatly enjoyed your post as it has brought back wonderful memories for me. I grew up participating in the go cart races down the side of Mt Te Aroha and loved every minute of it, from making the cart to practising and racing. Slide 5 made me laugh out loud.

Good on you. The combination of your fabulous writing and your slide deck made this a super interesting post.

    Keep sharing

    1. I agree Mrs Burt, Slide Five was my favourite too. Clever pun Charlie, and yes, we sure got it!
I also appreciated your clean design with the right complement of visual (pic) and verbal (text).
Your "Air Time" model gets my vote for the Beast-est....get it?

  6. Hi Charlie I'm Mark from South Hornby School,I liked how you did this blog post it's so awesome you put some good information about the event/occasion. This Remembered me of when my cousin used my bike while going up the road that was like a hill to go to our neighbours, And we saw a door opened with no wind, no fan and no one and we ran and we let my cousin go while at the bike and the bike rolled down the hill with my cousin on it and my cousin tried to get out but it was too fast, so when he was on a flat surface he got out and ran back and he left the bike,It was funny and scary. But maybe you should put a video of you guys doing Go-Cart Derby,But I like it.

  10. Hi Charlie,
What a great day at school. We are a school in Christchurch and there aren't many hills near us. I really liked your pictures and the descriptions. Slide 5 also made me laugh out loud. Looks like that go-cart died a little.
Do you do this activity every year?
    Thanks for sharing,
